Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)

Everything You Need to Know

Oral health is a crucial part of overall well-being, yet many Canadians struggle to access affordable dental care. To bridge this gap, the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) has been introduced, offering coverage to eligible individuals who need essential dental treatments. Whether you’re looking for routine cleanings, fillings, or other preventive care, understanding how the CDCP works can help you take advantage of its benefits.

What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)?

The CDCP is a federally funded program aimed at providing dental coverage for uninsured Canadians who meet specific income criteria. The goal is to ensure that essential dental care is accessible to those who might otherwise struggle to afford it. This initiative is expected to improve oral health across the country, reducing the long-term risks of untreated dental issues.

The plan is being implemented gradually, starting with seniors and expanding to include other groups. Over time, millions of Canadians will be able to receive coverage for routine dental care, helping prevent more severe health problems linked to poor oral hygiene.

Who is Eligible for the CDCP?

The CDCP is designed to assist Canadians who do not currently have access to private dental insurance. To qualify, you must meet the following criteria:

Canadian Resident

You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

No Private Dental Insurance

The plan is intended for those without existing dental coverage through their employer, private provider, or another government program.

Income Requirements

The household income must be below a certain threshold. The exact income cut-off and eligibility phases may vary as the program rolls out.

Application Approval

Eligible individuals must apply and be approved to receive benefits under the plan.

How to Apply for the Canadian Dental Care Plan

Ensure you meet the income and insurance criteria. Check out here.

You may need identification, proof of income, and residency documents.

Applications can be completed online through the government’s official website or by mail.

Once processed, you will be notified if you are approved and receive details about your coverage.
